Dr. B. Buchanan, PhD has her license as a clinical psychologist with specializations in clinical psychology and neuropsychology. She primary sees adults and geriatric patients by providing neuropsychological testing and rehabilitation services. She attended Louisiana State University and earned her bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas, a master’s degree in Theology at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. Her pre-doctoral practicum and internships were in neuropsychological private practices in McKinney and Lewisville, Texas. Her postdoctoral training was completed in Rockwall, Texas providing various services ranging such as private psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing, disability diagnostic and testing evaluations, and psychotherapy and rehabilitation services in nursing homes with her primary supervisor, Dr. Stephen Chock. She has supervised and trained many master-level interns and pre-doctoral-practicum/intern students. She has lead staff training and conferences on brain health and prevention as well as continuing education seminars for area social workers, LPCs, and nursing home staff.
Her specialization is in assessing and diagnosing traumatic brain injury and dementia/neurocognitive degenerative disorders. She is credentialed at Hunt Regional Medical Center, servicing the entire hospital as well as all patients on the acute rehabilitation unit. She was credentialed at Kindred-Baylor Hospital in White Rock, Texas until it closed its doors in April of 2017. She is contracted as the primary neuropsychologist at an outpatient brain injury rehabilitation program in Dallas, Texas. She is also contracted with Astra Clinics servicing Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio to provide neuropsychological services for traumatic brain injury patients in forensic cases. She is also contracted with Legend Health and Rehabilitation in Greenville, Texas and sees patients on the skilled rehabilitation unit.
She is the owner of Dallas Neuropsychology, PLLC with private offices in Rockwall and Greenville, Texas. Her practice includes a licensed social worker, two licensed speech pathologists, a trained psychometrist/technician, and a licensed professional counselor. Her focus is to provide excellent patient care by empowering her staff to utilize their gifts and talents while also allowing them to keep their families as priorities.
Dr. Buchanan is originally from Shreveport, Louisiana and loves LSU football. She is the mother of three beautiful children, and she enjoys spending time with them and participating in their busy schedules. She and her family currently reside in Rockwall, Texas.
