David Patterson, M.D. is a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a subspecialty in Brain Injury Medicine. He graduated from the Creighton University School of Medicine in 1994. The following year, he pursued his residency at the University Of California Irvine Department Of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation where he was designated Chief Resident in 1997. Dr. Patterson began as the Program Director for Casa Colina Hospital in 1999 and later assumed the role of Medical Director. He has served as the Medical Director across the physical rehabilitation continuum of care to include; long term acute care hospitals, post- acute rehabilitation, sub-acute rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, concussion clinics, and home and community rehabilitation. Dr. Patterson has been instrumental in advancing radiographic imaging through his work in diffuse tensor imaging and provides oversight to the imaging organization Brain Mapping Solutions. He has given lectures nationally to professional and community groups on rehabilitation education, stroke prevention and rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, acute management of spinal cord injury, metabolic joint disease, and concussion. Dr. Patterson is an advocate of sports athletes who have sustained brain trauma. He is a participant with the Retired NFL Congress and provides sideline coverage for high school and collegiate level athletic programs. Dr. Patterson’s efforts have been included in local, regional and national media coverage of treatment to soldiers with traumatic brain injuries. He is committed to ensuring that patients receive the highest level of medical and rehabilitative care available.
